What is CBH (Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy)?
CBH is an integrated approach to dealing with mental and emotional problems, using both hypnotherapy and CBT. These two methods turbo charge each other, so that the combination is even more effective.
Is hypnosis like being asleep?
No. You are in a relaxed daydreamy state, similar to when you’re drifting off to sleep. It’s also a state in which you’re more focused, like when you’re very absorbed in watching TV, playing a game, or reading. You will normally remember everything that happened during the session.
No. You are aware of what is happening around you, and can open your eyes or talk if you want to. In fact, the effect of hypnosis is to give you more control.
Most people can be hypnotised, except those under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or people with severe psychiatric conditions.
In order to make real changes, you need to be honest and committed. Everything that happens in the sessions is private and confidential. It’s essential to attend sessions regularly, and also to be committed to the “homework” assignments that are set.
What happens during a session?
In the initial session Guy will take a personal history, and discuss the background to your issues. A CBT approach will be used to identify any unhelpful mental patterns, and to give you more positive and appropriate perspectives. You will also be given techniques that you can practice at home, which help you to more quickly make the changes you want.
In subsequent sessions Guy will first check your progress, and then hypnosis may be used to enable you to relax more deeply, and to resolve the unconscious roots of any blocks or problems. You will also learn self-hypnosis, which enables you to take charge of your own development, and is a powerful tool for self growth.
How will I feel after a session?
You will often feel clear and relaxed, more “yourself”. Many clients experience “aha” moments, a different perspective on themselves and their lives, and a sense of solutions and the way forwards.
How many sessions will I need?
Most of my clients make the changes they want within 4 or 5 sessions. They also feel generally happier, and more in control.
