CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) is recognised as a highly effective treatment for a very wide variety of problem thoughts, feelings, behaviours and conditions. It has been thoroughly researched, and is recommended by NICE (National Institute of Clinical Excellence) as the therapy of choice for anxiety and depression.
The basis of CBT is the understanding that it's not what happens to us that's most important, it's how we respond to it that really matters. CBT enables you to respond more calmly and appropriately, rather than falling back into old negative habits. It helps you to become aware of habitual mental patterns that may be causing you unnecessary problems, and gives you very effective practical techniques to make positive changes.
Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (CBH) is an integrated approach using both CBT and hypnotherapy. Research has shown that these two techniques work particularly well together. A study, which looked at 8 different pieces of research, found that there was a 70% greater improvement in clients being treated with CBH than those using CBT alone.
